Reading Stuff I Agree With

Probably a bad habit, but Ricks has a fun post and exchange on American Generalship.  The starting premise is: is Tommy Franks the worst senior Army general since the American Civil War?  Since I found/find Franks to be such an amazing disaster, I like the way this is pitched.  And, the answer seems to be no, we had a worse general in Korea--Ned Almond (although I am surprised MacArthur didn't come up).  And Westmoreland got raked over a few coals as well.  Few commenters disagreed that Franks belongs in this debate.
